HERITAGE

A RICH HISTORY TO explore

Manilva's roots trace back to antiquity, with archaeological findings pointing to Roman settlements that thrived along its sunny coast. In fact, you can still visit the remains of the Roman baths at the nearby Baños de la Hedionda site, famous for its healing sulfurous waters which, according to legend, Julius Caesar once used. Over the centuries, this strategic enclave has seen Phoenicians, Moors, and Spanish conquerors pass through, all leaving their mark on the land.

The village as we know it today began to take shape in the 16th century when locals established an agricultural and fishing settlement near the sea. With its whitewashed houses, cobbled streets, and stunning Mediterranean views, Manilva's old town retains much of its original character. Historic churches, watchtowers, and stone buildings tell stories of resilience, tradition, and strength.

This rich cultural heritage is preserved not only in monuments but is alive in Manilva's festivals, gastronomy, and community spirit. Visitors are welcome to experience ancestral celebrations such as the grape harvest, where streets fill with music, dancing, and local wine. This unique blend of deep history and genuine hospitality is what gives Manilva its timeless appeal.
